Safety & Ingredients

Children's skin is thinner and more permeable than adults'. At Petit-Éclat, every product that enters the shop is chosen with this in mind: would I put it on my own child's skin?

How we choose our products

We don't sell everything. We prioritize brands that share our standards:

  • 🌿 As natural formulas as possible, with a clear and transparent composition (INCI).
  • 🚫 As few controversial ingredients as possible for young skin.
  • 🐰 Committed brands: vegan, cruelty-free, and often made in France or Europe.
  • 👶 A recommended age indicated on every product, because a product for teens is not a product for babies.
  • 🔎 Transparency first: on every product page, you will find the full composition and, where available, the Yuka rating.

Read a label in 30 seconds

You don't need to be a chemist to make a good choice:

  • The INCI list is read from the highest to the lowest concentration: the first ingredients are the main ones.
  • Fragrances and allergens (linalool, limonene, geraniol...) appear at the end of the list. They are normal but good to know if your child has reactive skin.
  • The recommended age always takes precedence over the desire to try it.

How to properly use a children's cosmetic

  • 🧴 Perform a patch test in the crook of the elbow 48 hours before the first use, especially on sensitive or atopic skin.
  • 👀 Avoid the eye area and rinse in case of contact.
  • 🧑‍🍼 Keep an adult watching, especially with bath products and makeup.
  • 📅 Respect the recommended age and the frequency of use indicated on the product page.
  • ⚠️ In case of redness or reaction, stop using the product. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Reassuring indicators

  • Yuka: an independent rating of the quality of a composition.
  • Organic / natural: a high proportion of ingredients of natural origin or from organic farming.
  • Vegan & cruelty-free: no animal-derived ingredients, no animal testing.
  • Made in France / Europe: some of the strictest manufacturing standards in the world.
